8:00 AM
Depart Portland
Head east on I-84 along the Columbia River Gorge. About 35 minutes to Multnomah Falls.
~8:45 AM
Multnomah Falls
Oregon's iconic two-tiered waterfall. A walk to the Benson Bridge gives a stunning view — allow about 45 minutes.
⚠ Summer Permit Required
Timed-use permits required via Recreation.gov — book in advance.
~9:30 AM
Continue to White Salmon
Back on I-84 east to Hood River, then across the Hood River Bridge into Washington. About 45 minutes.
~10:15 AM
Check In — Inn of the White Salmon
Drop bags, get settled, and take in the views before the afternoon begins.
~11:30 AM
Lunch — Feast Market & Delicatessen
A short stroll from the inn at 151 E Jewett. Specialty sandwiches, soups, and a gorgeous patio — the most praised lunch spot in town and a perfect send-off before the afternoon wineries.
1:00 PM
Savage Grace Winery
Pickup at 1:00 PM from Inn of the White Salmon. Perched on Underwood Mountain at up to 1,400 feet elevation, Savage Grace is the vision of owner-winemaker Michael Savage — old-world style, lower-alcohol wines that express the land rather than the winemaker. The name says it all: "Savage" for the vine's struggle to ripen on this dramatic hillside, "Grace" for the balance and elegance that results. Expect a deep-dive tasting of 7+ wines spanning both their estate and Columbia Gorge portfolio.
✓ Booked
Syncline Winery (Optional)
A short drive down the Gorge in Lyle, WA. Syncline is one of the region's most respected producers of Rhône-style wines — their Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan blends are benchmarks for the Columbia Gorge AVA. The setting is a family farmstead in an old-growth oak forest, complete with hammocks, a bocce court, and biodynamic garden beds. Walk-ins welcome and easy to enjoy without a reservation.

Walla Walla Wine Day
📍 Walla Walla, WA
Morning
Free Time — Downtown Walla Walla
A relaxed morning with no agenda. Whether that means strolling downtown Walla Walla's shops, galleries, and tasting rooms, or simply staying put on the Eritage property with a coffee and the vineyard views — either makes for a perfect Sunday morning before the afternoon excursion. Eritage serves breakfast on-site for an easy start.
Brunch — The Maple Counter Cafe (If skipping Eritage breakfast)
Ranked #1 of 95 restaurants in Walla Walla and beloved for over a decade, The Maple Counter is a gourmet breakfast and brunch spot rooted in three generations of family recipes. Scratch-made pancakes, crepes, and omelets using farm-fresh eggs and real cream. Located at 209 E Alder St — open from 7:00 AM, no reservations but a Google waitlist is available.
Brunch Path
Early Lunch — TMAC's or Graze (If breakfast at Eritage)
Allow time to return to Eritage for the noon pickup.

TMAC's — A beloved Walla Walla institution, chef-driven New American with a lovely sun or shade patio. Beautiful salads, seasonal soup, and a glass of wine make for a perfect pre-wine-tour lunch. Opens at 11:00 AM on the patio (no reservation needed for lunch). 5 S Colville St.

Graze — The more casual pick and a great one. Scratch-made sandwiches, soups, and salads — house-cured pastrami, flank steak, and a turkey-pear-brie panini that earns its reputation. Opens at 10:00 AM, making it the better choice if they want a slightly earlier start. 5 S Colville St.
Lunch Path

12:30 PM
DoubleBack Winery
Tasting appointment at 12:30 PM. Founded by former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who grew up in Walla Walla and returned home after retirement to pursue a lifelong dream. DoubleBack is a deeply personal project — an estate-focused Cabernet Sauvignon winery with the singular goal of crafting America's best Cab in an elegant, restrained style. Their very first vintage landed on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list, and the quality has only grown since. An intimate, by-appointment tasting in their downtown Walla Walla room.

Aluvé Winery (Optional)
A veteran-owned boutique estate nestled in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Owners JJ and Kelly Menozzi will personally pour their small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Bordeaux blends — wines grown in the vineyard surrounding their home. Col Solare Wine Tour
A joint venture between Washington's Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and the legendary Marchesi Antinori family of Tuscany — who have been making wine for 26 generations. The name means "sunny hill" in Italian, which perfectly describes the setting: a hilltop estate with sweeping views of the Red Mountain vineyards, the Horse Heaven Hills, and on clear days, Mt. Adams. Expect bold, structured Cabernet Sauvignon shaped equally by Washington terroir and Italian sensibility.
✓ Confirmed
Hedges Family Estate (Optional)
One of Red Mountain's founding families, farming biodynamically on land they've tended for decades. The property is styled as a French chateau and houses the tasting room, production winery, an intimate kitchen, and a wood-fired bakery. Tastings on the château patio with hand-selected charcuterie are a lovely way to end the afternoon — and the resident chickens roaming the grounds add a certain charm you won't find anywhere else.
